Playland-at-the-beach
Playland-at-the-Beach is a place I so wish still existed in San Francisco. For years I’ve poured over old photographs of the amusement rides, the signs, the food, the people having fun. Many times I’ve walked along Ocean Beach, looking out at the rows of 80s condos that now line the highway where it once stood.
This series began with nostalgia for a place that is no longer here, looking back through rose-tinted glasses at the imagined magic of a place I’ve never been. I began collecting scratched up old sunglasses that would have otherwise been thrown away; using them as canvases and found photography as inspiration, I created miniature scenes of the imaginary place I long to step back into.
